If you can kill a monster with a blade on a stick you should be able to kill it with a gun. Humans have technologically developed themselves so much they can travel great distances in space in a short amount of time but don't have long range weapons anymore.
Aliens create monsters to kill humans but the monsters can't see and can only track humans when they smell their fear. It has so many plotholes that don't make sense. This movie should be the prime example for any screenwriter how to not write a script. Dude, that is like choosing to use your hands to grab a piranha out of a fish tank instead of using a net with a long handle. Oh I forgot, they use some kind of of blade as a weapon of choice to kill these creatures, which begs the question why don't you use a gun at long range or down wind or in a space suit to kill them so you don't get mangled by them at close quarters. So if the oxygen levels are so low that you need to use a device to breathe, how do all the animals in the movie live, don't they need oxygen to breathe too? The entire movie is shot in a jungle where there are nothing but plants and trees.isn't that what makes oxygen? If you can only survive in the hot spots at night.wouldn't all the animals be in these hot spots at night and eat you? So they know about these monsters that hunt you by smell of fear, so with all their intelligence and technology, they can't make a suit with oxygen tank(the oxygen devices they use are palm size and thin for a 8 hours) or that filters out your smell rendering you invisible to these creatures? Well there are more holes in the story but the most glaring ones are listed so anyhow, it was worth a watch if you got absolutely nothing else to do and don't question the why didn't they aspects. Did anyone think through the concept of this movie before finalizing the script? Ok Earth has changed, there is low oxygen and at night it's so cold you will die if you're not in a geo thermo hot spot, there are monsters that can't see and can only sense you by smell of fear that hunt you, and basically the movie is about him going from the landing area to the crash site to get a communicator to call for help.
